GOLDEN DEMON

For several years, competition painting was an important part of my hobby. Between 2003 and 2013, I regularly entered the Golden Demon competitions in Germany and France, experimenting with new techniques, pushing my painting further and meeting many of the painters who shaped that era of the hobby.

Looking back, this period had a major influence on the way I paint miniatures today. Across those years, my entries received a total of 19 Golden Demon awards, including Gold, Silver and Bronze Demons across a wide range of categories.

I have written a separate retrospective about those years, the competitions and what Golden Demon meant to me:

Below is my personal Golden Demon Hall of Fame — a gallery of the winning miniatures from those years.

Where available, the entries link to articles from my Golden Demon Series, in which I revisit individual miniatures, their creation and the stories behind them.

The Hall of Fame

Below you will find all of my Golden Demon winning entries, spanning a decade of competition painting from 2003 to 2013. Some of the original photographs have already been replaced by new images, while others still use small archive images as placeholders.

Selected miniatures are linked to their corresponding articles from my Golden Demon Series, where I revisit their creation and the stories behind them.
