The Workbench

This is where you can find what is currently happening on my painting desk — ongoing projects, recently finished miniatures and the occasional glimpse of what might come next.

Unlike the more permanent collections elsewhere on the blog, the Workbench will change as projects progress, miniatures are finished and new ideas take their place.

Realm of Chaos — Nurgle

I began this project in early 2024 at a time when I was struggling to rekindle my enthusiasm for painting. Starting a small 3rd Edition Realm of Chaos Nurgle warband turned out to be exactly what I needed. The character of the old miniatures and the relatively quick progress of a small warband soon brought the motivation back.

The beginnings of the warband: my first group of classic Plaguebearers.

Since then, the followers of Grandfather Nurgle have slowly continued to gather.

One of the later additions was the Lord of Blights, which I finished last year. Around the following Disease Season, I started another small batch: two classic Nurgle Champions together with a rather special Plaguebearer from Knightmare Miniatures. They remained unfinished over the summer, but have now finally returned to the painting desk and received their finishing touches.

Finished Plaguebearers with their Lord of Blights, finished in 2025.

Two classic Nurgle Champions, started during the Disease Season and finally completed after the summer of 2026.

A rather unusual addition to the warband: a Plaguebearer from Knightmare Miniatures.

With these latest additions finished, the little warband has grown considerably since its beginnings in 2024. Whether it will remain a small Realm of Chaos project or eventually grow into something larger remains to be seen.
